Peyton took his first trip to Wisconsin this past week. He did a wonderful job and seemed to have a great time. What a different place from Arizona. He really liked the trees and grass and cool breeze. He ended up with yet another cold from the traveling, but between that and daycare, it is going to happen. He still was a trooper.
Flight:
Peyton did really well on the flight. Maybe a small peep, but nothing to interrupt others. It took a small trip down the aisle to calm him down, but other than that he slept and ate. He was a very good boy. I imagine once he is older it is going to take more to keep him entertained, but right now he is good. He just likes looking around.
The airport was his candy store!! His head was on a swivel...he had some much to look at and didn't say a word the entire time we were there. Security was surprisingly easy...it probably helps that Ryan and I fly a lot. It could have been disastrous.
Fond du Lac:
Thursday we took a trip up to Fond du Lac to visit Ryan's grandparents and family. We had a wonderful time there. It was great to see everyone and thank you to those who were able to make it and say Hi. Peyton got to see horses, geese, and pheasants, along with a very large garden. He sat in real grass...not this crummy Arizona grass we have here. He loved it! We got a picture with Great Grandpa, Daddy, and Peyton...we'll be photoshopping Grandpa into the picture so we get all four generations of Schonschecks.
Friday:
On friday we went all over the city. We saw Grandma and Grandpa's co-workers and went to lunch with one of my friends from high-school. She just had a little girl and we wanted Peyton and Kaiya to meet. She was adorable...and so little. I can't imagine Peyton was ever so little...but we have pictures to prove it. It was great to see her and hopefully we can get together again at christmas.
Great-Grandpa's 80th Birthday Party:
SURPRISE! This is what we came to Wisconsin for. My grandpa's 80th birthday. We have had this party planned for a year, and they did not know we were coming up. And surprisingly the secret was kept. They were very happy to see all of us...mostly Peyton however. My whole family got to meet him...I was glad they finally got to see him. It makes me sad that we are not closer, but I guess that is the way it is.
My aunts and uncles made up a BEAUTIFUL slide show for my grandpa, documenting his life...everything from his childhood, to his immediate family, grandkids, great-grandkids, friends, trips, and all the other great parts of his life. What a great 80 years!
The weather was absolutely beautiful. Could not have asked for a better day. Peyton was a bit crabby, of course when he needs to meet 35 people, he couldn't muster up a smile, but what are you going ot do?? He was okay and everyone got to hold him and give him smoochies!
Church:
We ended our trip to Wisconsin with church. We went with all the family members to celebrate my grandpa's official 80th birthday. He looks darn good for 80 and I hope he has many more to come. These little one's need to hear all the stories he has...and all the wisdom 80 years brings. It was wonderful to see my grandpa with his great-grandson. My grandma said it perfectly. "Peyton will never know how happy they were to see us and meet him." I will make sure he knows how special he is and how great his family is. I know he feels the love!
He was smiling on this day, which was good. Everyone got to see his true personality and how happy of a little boy he really is. He's a keeper!
Overall, the trip was wonderful. It was great to see everyone and introduce them to Peyton. We will be up again at Christmas, so Peyton will get to see snow for the first time. I have a feeling he won't like that weather as much as he liked this weeks. Peyton was a good boy and had a great time. Thank you to all my family members for such a great five days!
