9 month Check-up

Peyton had his 9-month check-up today. He is as healthy as a horse...or should I say Pig?! He is 22 lb, 5 oz and 28 inches tall. So he is what we affectionately refer to as stocky or husky. The doctor said that everything looks good even though he is at the 85th percentile in weight. I imagine he will stretch as he grows and moves.

His ears and lungs are clear, so all the antibiotics and breathing treatments worked. Besides a little runny nose (from standard pollen/cold issues)

I asked about him crawling backwards and the doctor said that many kids crawl backwards when they first start...some don't even crawl at all. I can see Peyton skipping the forward crawling for something more fun like walking. He is getting around however, he has figured out that he can get to where he wants to be by going backwards, it just takes a little longer and requires a bigger circle.

I also asked about his "talking". Peyton really likes his "bababa's", but isn't really doing the mama or dada thing. He gets different consenents in there occasionally, but not regularly. He does however, say Ba when I hold out a ball or say baba when I say baseball. He understands what he is looking at and can repeat a word. Well anyway, the doctor said that this is a 12 month skill and is surprised he is able to do that. He said that this just means he will talk sooner. I am not sure where he is getting that from!! *wink, wink* I actually talked before I walked, so I would not be surprised to hear words out of him sooner than later.

The only needle he saw was for a finger prick to test his iron. Since he is not on as much formula, they watch how much iron he has. His was normal along with everything else. He is eating enough (which is obvious).

His next appointment is at 12 months where he will get another check-up and more shots. Still getting bigger and wider I imagine.

He crawls backwards!!! You have to get a video of that, I want to see!! Kaiya goes for her 6 month checkup tomorrow, I too have lots of questions for the doctor! I can't wait to see how big she has grown since her last checkup - i think she has gotten a LOT bigger...we'll have to see.
