1 year check-up

Peyton went to the doctor yesterday for his 1 year checkup. He is finally growing taller than wider. He is 30 inches tall and 24.4 pounds. We've held steady at about 24 pounds for the last few months and he has grown 2 inches, so that is good news. Surprising because he puts everything he can into his mouth. You would think we never feed the boy!

The doctor says that he should be walking in a month or so...I am not counting the days because he is fast enough on all fours! I can't imagine chasing him around the house as he gets into everything. He also said that he should be talking and saying words soon. Now that one is not such a surprise to me. He was an early babbler and he has been talking every since. He say "Ba" everytime he sees a balloon, so I think he already understands the concept. I have no idea who he takes after. :)

Luckily though, we are not looking at tubes for his ears...at least right now. The doctor says his ears are clear and normal, so we don't need to do anything! One less thing to worry about, that is for sure. He also said that it is normal for kids to get an average of 5 ear infections before 16 months. Peyton is on 4, but if that is just an average, so he may go as high as 6 or 7 without having to worry about it. His language and motor functions are not hindered at all, so his ears are fine.

He got his yearly shots...in the arm this time, and doesn't seem to be bothered by them at all. So far so good.

We started whole milk last night. I thought he would be a little confused with the change, but as will all food product, he wasn't the slightest bit distracted and drank it all...even cold. It will be nice because we will spend $3 per gallon per week instead of $20 per can per week. Yeah to being 1!!!

We made it through 12 months. I can't believe it. My little baby is now a toddler and gaining his own independent personality. He wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it. Everytime I tell him no, he gets this fake sad look on his face and pretends to cry. I have to make sure not to laugh because it is so rediculous. Oh, here comes toddlerhood!

More adventures to come!
