To prepare for the new baby, we needed to change some things around. The guest room needed to be turned into Peyton's "big boy" room....but the closet has been our storage and we needed another place for that. Since we bought this house we've wanted to put a desk out on the loft...just another place for a computer and a future homework station. So we took a weekend and with Bob's help we installed a new desk. It is just some base cabinets and a countertop, but it serves the purpose and allows for a lot of extra storage.
So with all the stuff cleared out of the guest bedroom we could start making the mickey room into Peyton's room. I had a pretty large idea of making his room truly boy!! It is all sports all over the place. Two walls are dedicated to football (both cardinals and packers) and the two opposing walls are baseball (just homeplate, first and third base). We have some memorabilia that we have put up in the appropriate sports wall.
Peyton has really take to his new room. It took about three nights for him to get used to sleeping in a big bed (especially a bunk bed), but now he has no troubles climbing in and going to sleep. I still put the gate in the door because I don't want him to get up and head downstairs, but he doesn't get up unless it is the weekend and we're trying to sleep in. :)
I wanted to change him over before the baby came so that he can start associating his old room with the baby's new room. I have already put his old bed back into the crib and we removed all the big toys from that room and put them in his. His new room is more fun than the baby's room, so he pretty much stays out of it.
We're just lucky he is so easy going and had no troubles.

it all looks so great! nicely done at getting peyton prepared early- so smart. but where do you get the energy/motivation??
I am kind of just like that...and I knew that it would be easier if I did it now instead of later. These projects have been on the back-burner for awhile so when we found out the baby was coming they got moved up. It will make the jealousy issue less now that he has his own room anyway. Just thinking ahead.
