Well, Peyton is not an underwear wearing toddler quite yet. We attempted to do some potty training this past weekend with about half success. He started to understand what was expected of him...he needed to tell me when he had to go potty and the pee pees and poopies had to go into the potty.
Overall, he understood the concept and even told me a few times he had to go potty. The issue I believe is that he really wasn't so sure about the potty as a whole. Every time he would try to go he would get nervous. I tried to reassure him that it was okay because Mommy and Daddy use the potty, but I think he is just more comfortable with his diapers for now.
The other issue we ran into is that he drank so much juice this weekend trying to get him to go, that he ended up getting a red, irritated butt and then didn't want to go potty all together. Poor boy. Next time it will just have to be water we give him.
So, we had a little success in the fact that he now realizes what is required of him when using the potty, but it will be a little bit until he is ready to try it again. I continue to ask him if he has to go and we'll just play it by ear. He is a stubborn little boy (no idea where he gets it from) and wants to play instead of taking the time to potty. So for now, enough is enough and we'll wait until after our disney trip in june to try again...unless he miraculously figures it out. :)

are there older kids at day care that use the bathroom? I know for a couple of my nephews all it took was seeing someone their "age" going and the curiosity got to them. good luck!!! I hear cherios in the toilet make good targets for boys ;)
He is still with the little kids at his daycare (18 month-olds). Once he turns two, he will move up to the next room and they will start potty training him and he will be with other kids that use the potty. So I think that will be better all around.
Funny you say that about the cherios though, I have a coworker who had a friend who put fruit loops in the toilet and one morning he was standing at the breakfast table using his bowl of fruit loops for target practice. I guess you have to be careful what you wish for. :)
