I had my 33 week dr appointment last week and almost everything looked good. I am still not gaining as much weight, but they were more concerned because my stomach was not measuring the 33cm it is supposed to. The nurse practitioner said that I can measure 3cm big or small and they are not concerned. I was getting close to measuring 4cm too small.
She suggested that I go in for an ultrasound to make sure that he was still growing properly and there was no uterine growth restriction. I went in two days later and they took a look. He is actually measuring just where he is supposed to be. I have enough amniotic fluid, the veins and arteries in the umbilical cord and placenta are working and fine. All his organs are working and he even had a full bladder which is a good sign for his kidneys.
The doctor came in after and said that everything looked fine and that Connor is healthy and fine. The technician guestimated that he was about 4 lbs, but the doctor said he could be anywhere from 3.5-5 lbs. I think he is just about where he is supposed to be.
The best part is that the doctor told us that all babies grow at different rates...kind of like eighth graders. There is always going to be a 60 lb, 4'6" girl and a 120 lb, 5'6" girl in the same class. They just grow different. All fetuses grow exactly the same up until 16 weeks...if they don't, then they usually don't survive. After 16 weeks, they take on their own growth pattern. As long as it is always moving up with the curve they are fine. He might just be a small baby when he is born...like his brother.
All is well, and he is moving up a storm. I think he is getting as cramped as I am. Right now I am at 34 weeks...so just over 5 1/2 weeks left! I at least need another month to get everything ready and mentally prepared. :)
